This blog spreads the love so your blog/site will sure be enjoying votes from us for whatever they’re worth. Thing is, I’ve been receiving a lot of comments and some of them were totally ridiculous, irrelevant, off-topic, and downright spammy.
This is why I’m setting the following rules for comments (sorry, guys, gotta draw the line somewhere):
- Stay on topic…and please don’t lay it on too thick or be too ambiguous. Read: no overly blatant sycophantic effusions. In other words, no kissing ass, kids. (Eeeew!) I’ve received comments that are totally gushing–and which made me blush, actually–but were deleted anyway because they were way too vague.
- Don’t hit each other. While I believe straight talk’s best for keeping honest relationships, please be kind when criticizing me, fellow commenters, or other bloggers/posts that are even tangentially related to the topic you’re commenting on. We’re all grown-ups and there are ways to express displeasure without mutilating somebody. Be civil, please.
- No bad words.
I hate profanity. It’s the quickest, most direct way of getting your comments deleted and your IPs blocked. - No spam. Ditto with deleting your comments and blocking your IPs. Oh, and don’t even think of including links/comments about pyramid and get-rich-quick schemes, online games, gambling, the adult industry, pornography, sex, racial or religious discrimination, illicit drugs, the trafficking of illegal substances (and any kind of trafficking, period!), witchcraft and paganism, astrology and horoscopes, warez, pirating, guns or any other items, violence, and terrorism.
- No affiliate or marketing links. There are ways to promote your business other than spamming people’s blogs with irrelevant comments and even more spammy advertising links. If you want to advertise your business on this blog, contact me instead and let’s discuss stuff.
Anything that I believe is irrelevant, inappropriate or irresponsible will be deleted. I reserve the right to publish or delete comments at my discretion.
